Blogging on Wordpress 2.5 (-5 teeth)

Things are looking slicker (but probably less familiar) in the backend. Wordpress came up with a new version (which I LOVE!) (I hope you do to). Here’s a screencast that might help you adjust:

*Please don’t use the gallery feature in your posts, what we have (with the lightbox effect) is better.

Tutorial Final

Hi,
I meant to post this the other day, but here it is finally.
Thanks,
Sheila

Whoa dudes, wordpress2.5!

Wordpress 2.5 just came out, and to possibly some of our delights it features a built in gallery (and some other goodies). I’m guessing we should all upgrade?

Small revision

Did some more research, this may be busying up my design but thought about using these little line dividers to hide any attached images/tags.
What do you guys think? Still need to clean up the black area around the reversed out text, it is very rough at this point.

Brief: Theming the main page

Based on the tutorial I gave in class today, I want you to build the main page for your blog. I also want it to be done by next week, so we need to step up the pace. Let’s break it down:

By Tomorrow, March 29th, noon:

By Tuesday, April 1st, noon:

By Wednesday, April 2nd, noon:

By Thursday, April 3rd, 8pm:

If you’re stuck, use the mailing list. If you learned a cool trick and want to share, use the mailing list. If somebody got stuck and you think you might be able to help, use the mailing list.

Enjoy.

Website Redesigns

Here are some sites I’m considering for a redesign:

These sites aren’t extremely awful, but they are a little outdated or underdesigned. I also need practice, so I think these websites would be a good start.
Thanks,
Sheila
p.s. working on getting the other assignments posted!

A few ideas for assignment #3

I’m having a bit of a tough time narrowing down the field and choosing what project I would like to work, I was a bit all over the map to be honest, looking at everything from content management systems, enterprise management systems (which I didn’t even know existed at the open source level), some rss feeders etc etc etc. I think what would make the most sense for me is to work on some open source products that I actually use. So I’m looking into VLC and Handbrake. Neither of their websites are terribly offensive, but I think that both don’t reach their full potential. The same thoughts apply to their logo/identity/branding. Both are great software that I highly recommend, have a look and let me know what you guys think, thanks!

live neon.

The pre-remedial, extra-basic version of my page is up and running from WordPress here. Not everything is using live PHP code, but the page is a header/body/footer theme with the first post using live information from a WP post (header, tags, body, date are all “real”).

well, TightVNC it is.

It seems every one votes for the unsuccessful design of TightVN. A quote from Ryan,”… their whole aesthetic is like some early ’90s accounting/party banner software.” I have no idea what “…accounting/party banner software” means, but sounds very terrible and scary.

My reasons for redesign the interface are…

This is my idea so far
let me know your take on this, thank you
