Below is my email to Geoff.
Hi Geoff,
First of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in the development of Fisheye.
As I stated in my last email to you, I am very fond of this project. I hope I can be of some use. (I stole this sentence from Ryan)
After consulting Mushon regarding the design style of Fisheye, I have two design samples which are more honorary-certificate look than critical-certificate at this point.
I’m attaching these two files. Please take a look and I would love to know what you think and what direction you are interested in.
the end………..I also attached the files from my previous post.

e-mail to cURL re: site redesign
Hey guys,
Here is a snapshot of the beginning of the conversation I had with the people at cURL. There’s been more correspondence, but none of late because they aren’t able to receive images I’ve sent them, but I’m figuring that out. Will have some more changes by tomorrow hopefully ![]()

fspot comm.
Hello Stephane,
I’m a graphic designer in New York looking to assist with the visual aspect of fspot. I’m less of a coder than the usual fspot contributor, but hopefully I can still be of some use. I’m attaching some ideas I’ve had regarding the interface and would love to know what you think and if you feel they’d be worth sharing with the larger community.
Thanks in advance + great work on the app!

[OSD eavesdroppers: below are two updates to what was presented last week - other screenshots would be included but had no major changes.]

[I’m still not crazy about the circle for navigation on the timeline… maybe I should just slim down their original “square loupe”… I prefer my less clunky representation of “photo presence” data though]
[The crop tool has a a pop-up, shown here, with aspect ratio functionality]
[PS: they’ve released a new version this morning, so I’ll need to compare notes with my suggestions once I manage to get it running]
fisheye certificate
Im still trying to figure out the info-tech…Im not sure how users write criticism and link to the media sites. For my understanding based on the Fisheye Wiki, there two users, one is the subscriber who only reads embedded critic and other is the member of the trustworthy media crit site. How should i approach the info -tech in terms of different types of users?…..
I have not yet received Jeoff’s response. Should i drop another email to him and stating what i am doing? Or can i post my ideas on mailing list
I designed 2 different styles of certificates and see what you guys think is appropriate. There are too many kinds of certificate-style borders. I personally just want to stick with one style which is neutral and simple and the color scheme will not change no matter what subject categories. Concept of “keeping it consistent” is important to liable news…… However, the idea of ppl having choices of writing different certificate can empowering crits as well. But based on current options, each subject has its own color….so i need to talk to Geoff……..I have too many questions……
Below are two style of viewing the crit.

cURL redesign
Hey guys,
Sorry I missed class yesterday, it was unexpected. I made some changes to the homepage based on the comments so let me know what you think. I may have made it worse though… haha. I took away the underlines, which I think looks better. I kept the blue because it just feels like it works for them, but if people are against it I can change it. I added a quick download button, but they haven’t gotten back to me yet on whether I can do that. I also asked about a video, but they haven’t responded to that yet either. Do you think I should change the color scheme altogether? Let me know what you think!
Thanks,
Sheila
Brief: Show them what you’ve got…
Main focus this week - bring your designs to the point where you actually show the community members what you came up with. This means:
- By Saturday night: Post the comments you got in class to your posts
- By Tuesday noon: Post new designs to be sent to your project’s mailing list / IRC / Forums / developers emails… This would be a draft of your actual communication (write a draft of your email or post as a part of the design)
- By Wednesday night: Work on the feedback you got to your post (design and language)
- For Friday: Hopefully present us some feedback from the community
Next week we will also want to see your blogs ready to be launched. No reason why not to. If you’re running into problems, use the list.
fspottery.
Here’s an update to the browse view, followed by a few before/after states. This includes some functionality for shared libraries as requested in a user scenario posted to the fspot mailing list (basically, two users with separate accounts want to be able to tag and edit the same photos from within their respective accounts, but have the changes propagate/apply to both); I wonder if each user having a “shared with” option (to associate an image with multiple libraries) would be a better idea (or helpful to addition to what’s already here). Obviously this is a work in progress, so I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks, particularly about how best to integrate info on the timeline about how many photos exist on a given day (something missing from my current version). Also, since I will not have my computer with me today, here are Aperture and Lightroom screenshots.
fisheye
fisheye: A web browser plugin embeds criticism directly into the original stories. This plugin connects to a database which links certain parts of the text to criticism of that text, and allows the user to efficiently get an overview of the criticism as well as link to the full criticism. Consumers of news simply install the plugin, and then see any relevant criticism embedded in every website they visit. The system is not based on producing original criticism, merely linking existing criticism to the material it criticizes. Media critics merely need to continue writing criticism. Readers of media criticism need only add links to the criticism from the original article, using the plugin’s efficient interface.
