OLPC icons v 2
so i’m not sure whether i should continue down the icon route or try to revise my website so it’s better designed, but here are the icons i came up with an the website is a few posts below.

OLPC icons: second round
so here are the revisions based on what you guys said. thanks to ryan, the pause symbol is now facing the correct way! 
also, i changed the camera icon so it was super simple with only one centered circle. i agree with you guys, i think it works better this way.
any other insight?
OLPC icons
I emailed the guy back from the project I’m working on but haven’t yet heard back from him, so I decided to design some icons for the media player until I hear from him what he needs help on. I made these icons very basic, most of the icons on the existing computer are black outlined, with rounder corners and a little chunky. I wanted symbols that were universal enough that someone could understand what they were even if they hadn’t used a computer often. I couldn’t think of a better way to signify play, stop, pause and fast forward, than what is used universally, but i’m not sure that’s a bad thing. I’d love to hear your thoughts and also if there are some icons that you think should be present, but currently aren’t.
tv heaven so far
i’m having lots of trouble with the single page. it seem like there are so many different divs and containers that i have to search through.
however, the main page is done other than i want it to be centered. is there a way to do that other than adjusting margins?

Here is the site. I couldn’t figure out how to do a couple things, but I’m pretty happy with the progress considering how much trouble i was having!
OLPC Media Player
The project i want to work on is actually through Oregon State University, which is where i went for undergrad. they are working on a media player for web cam videos. Here is what they say about it:
“Collaboration and interaction are a huge focus for the OLPC project. Because the laptops are able to record video with their built in webcam there is a need for a media player.
In partnership with Real, the Open Source Lab has taken on this project to fill this gap. The software to take care of this void is the media player activity for Sugar, the user environment for the OLPC project. The activity is a full-fledged media player, tailored specifically to fit within the human interface guidelines that the Sugar team has provided.
The media player is being created using the new python bindings for the helix dna client. It has been designed to provide the best media experience possible while maintaining a level of simplicity that children all around the world will be able to handle.”
i think i could help in terms of interface design or icons and logos.
my blog
so i tried to install the new wordpress and i must have done something completely wrong because i lost all of the additions i made to sandbox. i tried to reinstall the old wordpress, but alas, that didn’t work either. so here his my blog, but not as completely done as it was before. i’m still having problems making background images in my post, but that’s really the least of my worries! i’m still working on it tonight, so i hope i’m further along tomorrow.

my blog is going to be a recap of some of my favorite tv shows so someone who missed it would be able to catch up before the next episode. here is my design:
the thought is that the floor and bigger tv image would remain at the bottom no matter how long the page is. i’m a little nervous about how i will actually write the code for this design, but hopefully i can figure it out. i’d love your comments!
