Looks like you have cleared up a lot of junk- nice. Still, I feel that you may have complicated in a different way- for instance, what is the index referring to? Artist?song?Album?Genre?
And in my opinion, where you log in should be more prominently placed and I am sure NME would want their store to be quite conspicuous in the site so I suggest you guys give more pixel space to that. Honestly, I dont have much of a problem with their top nav bar but you could incorporate the other links in another way. Perhaps? maybe?
