Final - Local Project (not so soon)
OK,
thank you Renda!
Over the next two weeks we are going to conclude the Local Project. On the class of March 14th you will be giving presentations of your sites in front of your (imaginary) clients (us). Before then, we will have another online deadline for next week, to which you will be presenting all of your pages as a pre-final.
By Sunday - March 2nd:
- Write the feedbacks you got in class as comments to your post.
- Write at least two more feedbacks to other students work.
By Wednesday March 5th:
- Post the changes to the pages you brought to class today to the blog with the feedback you got implemented and with substantial design progress.
By Friday March 7th:
- Post all the remaining pages of your site to the blog
- Write at least 3 final comments to fellow students on their posts
By Wednesday March 12th:
- Implement the final comments and have the pages ready by Wednesday
For March 14th:
- Devote the last two days of the assignment to preparing your presentation.
- PRACTICE! (we will easily see if you haven’t)
- Make sure you’re ready with bullet points you want to talk about concerning the role of the chosen business in it’s local context and the possible impact of the site to the benefit of the business and hopefully the community around it.
Enjoy!
See you in two weeks,
Mushon
* and thank you again, Renda!
Star Struck v.3.0
Hey all, So I’ve taken your feedback into account and have tried simplifying my background design with something that, while still busy in its own right, manages to give the site the proper feel without being distracting (thanks Lady for the great link!). I’m having trouble figuring out how to treat the textual information on each page, and so I’ve tried changing the color and typeface. Hopefully its easier to read. Thats all for now, see yall in class. Stay classy Web1! -Khurry

38 Aquarium—new pages
Hello everyone,
So, I made some drastic changes to my 38 Aquarium site, after having received such a plethora of great advice. Mushon—thank you for getting back to me so quickly with all your suggestions, even while being on the way to the airport!
This now makes it the third time that I have made quite big changes to the navigation structure of the site. Primarily, I was having a difficult time figuring out how to differentiate the navigation and subnavigation fish menus. Hopefully I’m a bit closer now. I also took out the search bar — figuring that the site and store are too small to warrant one. In addition I took out the fish ad — I’m unsure if this store would keep such an active web presence so as to be constantly updating that ad. Instead, I added an animation in that column.
Currently I have four different pages. It’s a small site. I could do another fish page, but the format would be the same. Any suggestions as to what other page might be needed? I know my supplies page needs work.

Alrighty. I took some of the suggestions for the site and hopefully corrected the bulk of the pressing problems. I changed the spacing of the footer and and navigation bar so they are more legible. I left the headers as they were, since the jumbled look was kinda part of the aesthetic I was going for. If it is too weird, I can change it. I also added some colored text in the paragraphs to break them up (also mirroring the color used in the footer and dividing bar at the top). I also added some reference to the Fig.’s used on the Community page. Hopefully it is a little more clear.
As for the new pages…Page three shows what the screen would look like if you clicked on one of the thumbnails. Page four shows a sample menu page. I think this may need some work. Lastly, page five shows the link page to the Northeast Kingdom, the restaurant owned by the same owners down the street.
That is all.

Golden Farm Revisions part deux
Hello and thank you for all your helpful comments! Lan and Liam: Agreed, shorten quotes! Who is going to read all that? Alexandra: Yes on all counts. It was a cucumber referenced by some writing in one of the quotes, but if you don’t read the quote, it would be quite random! I tried to resolve the search/button issue, but could use more suggestions. Stars for bullets? I may need to reconsider that list. Anuranjan: It is a lot of white space, but as Liam said (thanks for having my back L!) It is only there as per Mushon’s suggestion to design with lots of vertical space. It would ultimately be considered and shortened (probably.) Thanks again. -Ariel

Thank you everyone for your polite comments. I did some tweaks to the earlier pages as well apart from the new 3 pages from the site- 2 or 3 more and my site is done! The class timings were all 4 pm (even though I had uploaded the new file) because wordpress wouldn’t allow me to upload the correct file till I named it differently from the previous file even if I deleted the earlier file from the server!) and it left it up to me to figure that out! The colors are still strong because those are from the logo which is from the Korean flag and I think they correspond well to martial arts as well- think belts, think taekwondo. I have tried to line up everything to the grid and be more legible but my eyes are tired so if you can spot the mistakes, you don’t have to be polite about it. There are many more minute changes but I am sure you guys are smart enough to figure them out. For all problems and mistakes, please be ruthless.
