Because of recent events the word freedom has been thrown around in many different ways. It has been used as a strategy to win an election, it has been used as an excuse for war, it has been used as a justification of wrongdoings, etc. I believe that it has been exploited to the point where it has now generated confusion amongst people to what it really means. In my opinion freedom is abstract. Freedom is something different for everyone and is very embedded in each person’s culture. That is why politics cannot be driven by Western ideas of freedom because in the end it is not the same. I am in complete agreement with the notion that freedom is not so easily defined.
