Gossip has become something that our society is obsessed with and the Internet has only made it easier to make someone else’s business, your business. The book series (and present television show) “Gossip Girl” talks about a fictional website of the same title where students in New York are able to anonymously post gossip about other students. Some of what is posted is true, much of what is posted is not. It was sometime last year when I heard about a website that was created based on this “Gossip Girl” website. “Juicy Campus” has different forums for different universities and allows for college students to anonymously post whatever their little heart’s desire. If you were to visit Juicy Campus today you would find numerous posts naming girls who were sluts, students who can be seen in pornographic films, which dorms had the most drugs, and open hatred for blacks, gays, and any one else who may be considered a minority.

For my second travelogue I wanted to investigate how anonymity has made it possible for people to say whatever they want about any body. I also want to explore how Juicy Campus proves that their needs to be some sort of check on how far anonymity can be taken.

Good luck writing about Juicy Campus, the site’s gone out of business.
I think your idea of online anonymous gossip is really interesting. Unfortunately like Lily Q said, Juicy Campus is now out of business.

Above is the article from Valleywag about the site going down. But if you want more information about Juicy Campus, Valleywag has a lot of articles about them. Here’s the link to them:

Hope it helps!
Too bad this site has gone out of business … I would have loved to check it out. I can’t believe that there wouldn’t be more sites out there like it, however, with the phenomenon that Gossip Girl is it just seems to make sense that more sites would have been developed. I haven’t seen you comment back to Lily and Cori, what have you decided to do for this Travelogue?
